Chapter One: Quantico

August 9th, 2016

It was the day I would be starting my training to become an FBI agent at Quantico, Virginia. I would be at Quantico for at least twenty weeks. This is definitely going to be a long strenuous time. I was extremely nervous, because what if I do not make the FBI? What if I regret my decision to join the FBI? Am I even fit to do this right now? All these thoughts rolling through my head. Breathe. Just breathe, I thought to myself.

*knocking on the door*

Who would that be? I thought. I looked through the eye hole.

"OPEN THIS DOOR NOW!" I heard my best friend yelling.

It was Jamila. I opened the door.

"Yes?" I asked.

"What, I can't come and visit my best friend?" She sighed. "I need this time, because I won't be seeing you for a bit."

"Yeah, I know. I don't even know when we can leave the main headquarters."

"See. Jeez. Anyway, how are you?" Jam asked.

"I'm a little nervous."

"Don't be you'll be fine girl! You will become the greatest FBI agent I know."

"I will be the only FBI agent you know." I said laughing.

"I might get to meet some of your FBI friends."

"That's if I make friends while I am there. I'm just a loner. Do my task and then go to my dorm room."

"Keep the faith. I'm sure you'll find some friends"

"That's coming from negative Nancy?" I asked confused.

"You know, I'm just trying to help you out here, but no."

"Okay fine, I'll stay positive." I lied. I'm not positive at this current moment of time.

I walked over to my bed and put the suit case on the bed. I was almost done packing. I just needed to add the final items that I needed for my trip to Quantico.

"Where's your dog Monty?" Jamila asked.

"I can't take him with sadly. He's going to be staying at my parents house."

"WHAT? YOU WON'T LET ME BABY SIT OUR SON?" Jam yelled at me.

"I was thinking about it, but I know you. I can't trust you with my son."

Jamila just put on a sad face. "I KNOW HOW TO HANDLE HIM!"

"You can visit my parents house and go see him there." I said smiling.

"That is not the point, bruh."

"You can't always get what you want."

"Okay Rolling Stones." Jam said rolling her eyes.

*O'Hare Airport, Chicago Illinois*

I waved bye to Jamila, Ashley, my parents, and brother. I will miss them very much, but I know I'll see them very soon when they are allowed at headquarters. I picked up my backpack and suit case and started boarding the plane. Planes are fun. Wait, no I hate planes so much. I boarded down the planes tunnel and some guy was looking at me.

"Hello Ma'am" He said.

"Hello?" I said.

He just smiled and walked past me. Okay? People are strange sometimes.

I got to my seat and put the suit case above into the storing area and the backpack I put by my feet. I finally sat down. When I sat down I realized that the man that said hello was sitting next to me. Only me.

"Did you purposely get a seat next to me?" I asked.

"No, actually I bought this seat a few months ago." The man said.

"Oh really? I think you're lying to me." I said.

"Whatever you say, but it is the truth." The man said. I couldn't help but notice he was kinda of cute, but that's just creepy to say.

The flight attendant came around with alcohol. THANK THE LORD. I need some if I'm going to be on a plane for about three hours. Planes give me anxiety.

"So, where are you heading stranger?" The man said.

"First off, I do not even know your name, and second I am not going to tell a stranger my whereabouts after I get off this plane." I said.

"Well then, I'm Adam." He said extending his hand to shake mine.

"I'm Sarah." I said smiling.

"It's nice to meet you Sarah."

"Same." AWKWARD.

"You're not a very great conversant." He said laughing. He was right.

"I know. I lack communication skills, but I'm a great detective."

"Detective? Are you a detective?" He asked.

"No...well, not yet." I said.

"Not yet? Are you going to be one eventually?"

"Eventually, yeah."

"Well, I wish you luck with that. I'm sure you'll make a great detective." He said smiling.

"Thank you!" I said smiling. I turned on my computer and someone started calling me on skype. "I'll get back to you in about five minutes."

"Okay. I'll be here." He said laughing.

"I put my headphones in and answered the skype call."

"HELLO!" he yelled.

It was my brothers friend, Scott Darling of the Chicago Blackhawks. The reason why I knew a professional athlete was because my brother works security at the Chicago Blackhawk games. If it weren't for him I would have never met my best guy friend.

"Hey Darls." I said winking.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"Nervous. Very nervous."

"Don't be! You got this. I have all the faith in the world for you." Darling said smiling.

"You're so precious." I said laughing.

"DAMN RIGHT." He said with this shit grin on his face.

"I'm extremely nervous right now. My anxiety is kicking in so hard right now." I said.

"Just breathe. If I were with you right now I would give you a big bear hug to help you calm down." He said.

"A bear hug would just hurt me." I said chuckling.

"That's the point. I want to make you laugh."

"You're a great best friend." I said smiling.

"Anyway, I'll let you go. You know I'm here, so anytime you want to skype, call, text, or have me visit you at Quantico. I will."

"I appreciate it! I will definitely be doing those things."

I waved bye to Scott and then close my laptop. He is such a nice guy. I'm honestly surprised he does not have a girlfriend, because he is such a sweetheart and deserves to have a girl in his life. I sighed and called over the flight attendant to get me a drink. I need to slow down I thought to myself.

*Darling's POV*

I had just gotten off the computer with Sarah. She was off going to Quantico and I'm in Chicago. I really want to be with her, but she has her career she is focusing on. Maybe I should have stepped up my game and asked her out before she left for Quantico. I don't even know how she feels about me. I might just be that 'best friend' not a boyfriend. Who knows?

I walked down the stairs and Crawford was stuffing his face with a slice of pizza.

"Who said you can eat MY pizza?" I asked.

"I didn't SEE your NAME on it." Crow said plopping on the couch and turning on the Chicago Cubs game.

"Well, since you already made it. I'm eating some too!" I said grabbing a plate and putting some pizza on it.

"So, man when are you going to ask Jamila on a date." I said with a shit grin on my face.

"Hey, who said I liked her?"

"I know some people."

"I didn't tell anyone though!"

"You sure act like you like her." I said laughing.

"OKAY FINE MAN. I do like Jamila." Crow said with a bright face.

"Go ask her out! You never know when she might be gone." I said sitting onto the other couch.

"You're right man. I should ask her out on a date." Yes, learn from my lesson. You never know when someone might be gone.

"Well, what are you waiting for!" I yelled.

"Hold on man, I got to finish this piece of pizza." I got up from the couch and took the piece off his plate.

"GO! I'll finish it." I said sitting back down.

"Okay, I'll be back later." Crow said getting up and putting his shoes on.

"Tell me how it goes." I said.

"You got it man."

Crow left. I had the whole house to myself and now I'm just going to sit here and drink a beer. I mean it is nice, but damn I can not stop thinking about Sarah.

*Ashley's POV*

"JAMILA!" I yelled.

"WHAT? Can't you see I'm trying to sleep." Jam is always trying to take naps. She is kinda boring. Why can't I have friends who like to party? HMMM.

"Get your ass up."

"WHY?" Jam said rolling her eyes.

"You got a hot man waiting for you." I said winking.

"Wait, who would be at the door?" Jam asked confused.

"You're being silly. It's Corey."

"Oh god, oh god. I am still in my pajamas!" Jam said jumping up from the bed.

"Hurry!" I said leaving to let Corey into the house.

I let Jam get ready and I went downstairs to let Corey into the house. I opened the door and let him in.

"How goes it? stranger." I asked.

"I'm good, how about you?" He asked.

"I'm good. So, what brings you here?"

"I'm looking for Jamila. Is she here right now?" He asked. It looked like he was really hoping she was here.

"Yes, she is here. She's getting ready right now. I think she'll be down in a few minutes. You can make yourself at home. Sit down." I said.

"Thanks, but I am good." Corey said with a smile.

"Water? Soda? Anything?" I asked.

"Water is fine." Corey said.

"Coming right up." I said walking into the kitchen.

Jamila came down the stairs and she looked nice. I peeped around the corner of the kitchen to listen to their conversation. This is going to be good, I thought to myself.

"Hey, what's up?" Jamila asked.

"Nothing much, I figured I'd stop by and say hello." Corey said.

"Interesting. I think you're lying." Jam said.

"Well, sorta kinda lying." Corey said.

"Lying to me already? You're off to a great start. I do not like people lying to my face. Jamila said.

"I'm not really lying. I came over to ask you if you wanted dinner sometime soon?" Corey asked.

"Hmm...let me think about it." Jam said with a thinking face. "Yes, I'll go to dinner with you." Jam said.

"How about tomorrow night?" Corey asked. YAAAS. I want to hear everything about this date.

"Yes, that sounds great to me." Jam said.

"Tomorrow at 7 p.m.?" Corey asked.

"Sounds perfect to me." Jam said.

I walked into the living area with a glass of water. I handed it to Corey.

"Thank you." Corey said.

"This guy has manners." I said smiling.

"I was raised to have manners." Corey said smiling.

"Aww." Jam said.

"So, what is going on?" I asked, even though I knew what was going on.

"I'm taking Jamila out on a date tomorrow." Corey said.

"OOOH Jamila has a date. How sweet?" I said.

"Shut it, Ash." Jam said glaring right in my direction.

"What? I can't be happy for my friend?" I asked confused.

"Yes, you can." Jamila said.

"Well, I'll let you two love birds talk. I'm heading upstairs." I said.

As I was walking upstairs I heard Jam mumble under her breath that she hates me. I just smiled to myself and went into my bedroom.

*My POV*

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA.

The plane had landed and I went to grab my stuff. Adam had grabbed my suit case from the top shelve.

"Thank you." I smiled politely.

"You're welcome. Good luck with everything in the future." Adam said.

"Thanks, you too." I said grabbing my backpack and heading off the plane.

I feel like something is up with that man. It is kinda creepy. I walked down the plane's tunnel. I had to hail a cap to Quantico, because I did not have a vehicle to rent. I was even more nervous now, because I was so close to Quantico Headquarters.

Fifth teen minutes later

I had arrived at Quantico's Headquarters. I got through front security and went straight into the main building. In the lobby of the headquarters were about fifty other people with their bags and suitcases. This is a lot of people, I thought.

"Hey stranger." I heard from behind me walking into the door.

"It was Adam." What the hell? I'm so confused? Did he follow me? No way.

"What are you doing here?" I asked confused.

"I'm participating in the Quantico training to become an FBI agent as well." He said.

"What? Are you being serious?" I asked.

"Yes, he is." A girl with a beaming voice said. This woman walked up to the front of everyone and started telling everyone to be quiet. She must be the head person, I thought.

"Welcome everyone to Quantico, Virginia. I'm Casey and I'm going to be your director trainer here at Quantico. Look around everyone, these will be the people participating in becoming an FBI agent. You're thinking "wow, this is a lot of people." yes, it is a lot of people, but only a few of you can become part of the FBI. Everyday, all of you trainees will be participating in exercise, class work, and some other challenges along the way. I'm going to tell you guys straight up that this is a difficult challenge to accomplish. It's going to physically, mentally, and emotionally drain you, but that is all part of the job. You're going to learn that through this twenty week training.

Now everyone will get clothes in their rooms that will be worn when training, and when in the classroom. Every room has two people bunking in it. There are bathrooms that you guys will share between your next door neighbors. All the rooms have your names outside the door, so go a head and go to your rooms. Dinner will be in the cafeteria at 1800 hours (6:00 o'clock p.m.). After, dinner you will return to your dorms. There will be a wake up call tomorrow morning at 0400 hours (4 o'clock a.m.), so I would advice you trainees to get some rest. That's all for now." Casey said dismissing us all to our dorms.

I'm not sure how I feel about Casey. I'm just going to do what I am told. I want to become a great FBI agent, so I will do everything. I went to my dorm and I was rooming with a Addison Booth. I wonder how my roommate will be? I hope she is not a complete bitch.

I opened the door and Addison was already in the room. I set my backpack and suitcase down on the bed that was not taken. I then walked over to Addison and shook her hand.

"Hello, I'm Sarah Montgomery. And you are?" I asked shaking her hand.

"Nice to meet you Sarah. I'm Addison Booth." She said smiling.

"I see you already picked your bed." I said.

"Oh yeah, I mean if you really want that bed, then you can have it."

"That's okay, the beds and stands look exactly the same. Now, if it was a king sized bed and I had a twin sized bed then I would be mad." I said laughing.

"I like your thinking." She said sitting down on her bed.

*Adam's POV*

"Okay, now you know you're a secret agent that needs to keep your eyes on Sarah Montgomery." The man said. The man is Josh Alex. Josh Alex is an assistant to Casey.

"Yeah, I know, but I do not feel right about this whole undercover task." I said sighing.

"We all know what happened in LA. You blew it. It is time to recover from LA and actually finish off this case right."

"What do you mean I blew it? You were there too." I said getting mad.

"You either do it or you get tossed out of Quantico." Josh said.

"You know what? You're not even in charge of the Quantico trainee program." I said walking out of Josh's office and slamming the door. I walked down to the dorm I was at pissed off. I do not like this undercover assignment at all. I was about to slam the door to the dorm, but I was stopped.

"Why are you mad?" Sarah asked confused.

"Let's take a walk." I said.

"Okay, but where can we go?" Sarah asked confused. I knew my way around Quantico. I was not a trainee. I am an undercover FBI agent already.

"I know some place I saw right when we walked into the main building." I lied straight to her face.

"Alright, let me grab something." Sarah said as she went to her dorm room and grabbed a jacket from it.

We walked to a door that lead to outside, but away from any of the cameras. I know the blind spots around here.

"So, what's wrong?" Sarah asked confused.

"You probably have not seen him yet but his name is Josh Alex. He knows my father. My father was part of the FBI at one point. My father was this glorious FBI agent that did well on everything. On the other hand, I'm the biggest fuck up to the family name. Josh was just trying to give me advice to being a trainee here at Quantico. I got mad, because I hate being compared to my father. I'm nothing like my father. I may not be the greatest person ever, but I have a kind heart." I said just putting my hands on my face. I did actually hate my dad. He was a great FBI agent. I fucked up big time in LA. I got over twelve people killed, so yes I am a big fuck up.

Sarah pulled my hands away from my face.

"Look at me." She said.

"What?" I yanked my hands away from hers.

"Don't be upset. Everyone has their moments that they regret very much." She said smiling. She was just trying to comfort me.

"Thank you. I just wish I could not be compared to anyone." I said sighing.

"I know that feeling. My brother is a security guard at the United Center during the night and a mechanic during the day. I'm always asked. "Sarah, when are you going to get your shit together?" I'm just like whenever things start falling into place." She said.

"It sucks doesn't it?" I asked.

"Yes, but I use that to motivate me to be like HA in your face when I'm done here." She said.

"You're a very positive person." I said. I wish I could be that positive with myself. I just can't.

"I am a positive person sometimes. I have anxiety most of the time. Wow should I even be an FBI agent?" Sarah said laughing.

"You'll be fine. I'm sure it won't affect you here." I said smiling.

"I sure hope it doesn't. I'm extremely nervous." She said.

"You'll get out of the nervousness once you get into the groove." I said. It'll be fine. It's difficult at times, but it is something if you put your mind to it then you'll be fine.

"Here's to hoping." She said laughing.

She sighed. I leaned over to her closer.

"So, that is all that's on your mind?" She asked.

"Nope." I said.

"What else is on your mind?" She asked.

"You ask a lot of questions." I said laughing.

"Oh really?" She asked.

"Yes." I said and then kissed her.

To be continued...
